The Parts of Parenting No One Talks About with Kaila Maguire
Kaila Maguire created the Parent Tell Podcast in November 2020 to highlight the parenthood realities that nobody seems to talk about, but that deserve to be discussed. It is a safe space for anyone to parent & tell.
For Kaila, pregnancy and the fourth trimester were very isolating, jarring, and just plain sucky at times. A lot of this had to do with the fact that she simply didn’t know what she didn’t know. Movies, tv, and most friendly conversations about pregnancy, postpartum, and parenting barely scrape the surface of what life is often like during such a transformational time. Kaila does not want other pregnant women or new parents to feel the way she did, and so Parent Tell was born on November 6, 2020. Through her podcast, Kaila provides a safe and inclusive space to parent and tell about it.
It is Kaila’s hope that candid conversations about birth, postpartum mental health and the mental load of parenting, to name a few, will help to normalize the often hard to discuss realities of raising a child, resulting in more support, grace, and acknowledgement for parents.
Kaila Maguire is a teacher turned stay-at-home parent who currently lives on the shores of North Carolina in the U.S. with her husband and son.
In her spare time Kaila enjoys supporting new parents with a listening and empathetic ear, dancing in the kitchen with her family, and smashing the patriarchy any chance she can get. The toddler mom recently has become a certified birth class instructor and is looking forward to launching her series of classes, all about honest labor and birth preparedness, super soon!
